What is your return/exchange/refund policy?
- Please see return policy located under terms and conditions tab
How do I place a custom order?
- Custom orders are done on a very limited basis. Please contact brenna@thecrochetunicorn.com if you have a custom order request. Processing, production, and shipping time will require 3-4 weeks. If the item requires custom designing, there will be a price increase as well. Custom orders are not eligible for return/exchange/refund, all sales are final and must be paid in full before receiving.
How long does shipping take?
- All items are shipped through USPS and only available for domestic shipping. Most packages are delivered within 1-2 weeks after shipping. Once the item has been dropped off for delivery it is out of my hands. I will do my best to help locate a package via tracking information however, I am not responsible for lost or stolen items.
How do I care for my items?
- Handmade garments and accessories will include a care tag with information as to how to wash/care for your item. These handmade items do require specific delicate care to ensure it lasts a long time! Most are hand wash only and laying flat to dry. Do not hang any garment as it will stretch the fibers.
- Any novelty amigurumi toy/accessory is intended for display use only, as excessive handling can cause them to become damaged. Any item with plastic safety eyes is not intended for children as this poses a potential safety & choking hazard. If requesting an item for a child under 3 please specify so I can embroider items instead.
- Novelty/amigurumi items cannot be machine washed as some of them have weighted pellets and stuffing. Spot cleaning only is recommended, unless otherwise stated in the care instructions.
What materials do you use?
- I use a combination of acrylic yarn, wool, cotton yarn, polyester, and cotton blend yarns. If you have a known allergy to specific fibers please read the description of the item before purchasing.
- Amigurumi/toy items will have poly-fill fiber stuffing and sometimes plastic pellets for added weight.
Why is crochet so pricey?
- With the increase in supply and demand, yarn manufacturers charge more money for materials, yarn is expensive! Depending on the type and material these prices can vary widely.
- Time: Most items take several hours or more to complete with every stitch done by hand. A garment specifically can take 20-30 hours of time to hand-make.
- No crochet items can be done by a machine, they are all done by hand so if you see a "crocheted" item in a store, not only is it probably not done by hand, but if a person did make it, they are probably being paid less than livable wages. All of those factors contribute to making the prices higher than what you see at big box retail stores, even for small items :)
